METANOIA
"Brilliant and powerful interpretation." - Diapason
“They created magic” - Classical Music Magazine
Metanoia – the word itself – means "beyond thought," encompassing the idea of broadening and transforming the way we see and perceive. Metanoia delves into the concept of transcendence in music and explores the emotional and spiritual impact certain composers have achieved, embodying something that transcends intellect—true to the original meaning of the word.
This project featured a remarkable concert performed at the Duomo di Milano and Cadogan Hall in London.
It also evolved into a documentary where Simone Menezes and Ensemble K investigate transcendence in music and art through a journey across Italy, engaging in conversations with major figures such as Antonio Pappano (conductor), Michael Triegel (painter), and Alberto Cavali (thinker). Directed by Paul Smaczny, the documentary received the Best Performance Documentary award from the International Classical Music Awards.
